Don't forget we have our field trip tomorrow, Tuesday! Make sure you child dresses nicely and brings $7 for McDonald's or a disposable lunch.
Homework Tips: As a reminder, your child DOES have HOMEWORK EACH NIGHT! Every night your child is required to read for 30 minutes and practice math facts, or math on Accelerated Math, for at least 15 minutes.
Please check your child's assignment notebook daily for other assignments. You can also look on the calendar under the students tab at the top of this page.
Reading
Students will continue to learn about story structure. We will be analyzing literature to identify and explain the plot, exposition, rising action, conflict, and resolution. We will be reading the story Thank You, M'am by Langston Hughes.
Also, we are more than half-way through first quarter! Please be checking in with your child to ensure they are reading each night to reach their AR goals!
Spelling
Friday we took our Unit 4 Pretest and today, Monday, the students were given their spelling lists for the week. Their homework is the 30 point assignment and it is due on WEDNESDAY! The Spelling packets will be due on Friday. The Unit 4 Spelling TEST will be on Friday.
Writing
This week we will be continuing to draw on our life experiences to write. Your child may have writing homework this week. As the students are continuing to build their stamina, they are not having enough time in class to finish their writing pieces. This week our focus is on writing in first person, in the present tense. We will also begin editing our previous pieces and setting goals.
Important Upcoming Dates!
