Reading
This week in reading we will continue to work on establishing our daily reading routine. We will be practicing our daily rituals in reading and focusing on how to have appropriate conversations about our reading. We will also be discussing themes in texts and determining which themes are present in our mentor texts.
Our mentor texts this week include:
Writing
This week we will be learning how to write effective leads. Students will be choosing one of their previously written pieces to write three different leads for. This week we will also be learning how to elaborate on a specific scene in our writing. Towards the end of the week we will be revising the piece we’ve been working on throughout the week.
Math
Our goal this week in math is to learn how to calculate the distance between two points on a coordinate plane. We will also begin comparing and interpreting rational numbers
Every night, your child should be working on IXL at home to practice these skills. Doing this daily will ensure your child completes his/her stations on time each week. This week’s IXL skills are all from 6th grade and include:
