Reading & Writing This week we have started our unit on Fantasy reading and writing! We have already started reading fantasy together and discussing the different elements fantasy in a variety of texts. As we move forward, students will begin studying the settings and characters of fantasy texts and will then create possible settings and characters for their own fantasy! This week students will learn that fantasy stories start from realistic settings and characters. Spelling NO SPELLING THIS WEEK! Next week we will be working on Unit 21: suffixes -age, & -ment.
Math Please view the Unit 3 Parent Newsletter (click on the link to view it online) to see specific terms and examples to further help your child. Over the next few weeks we will be learning how to solve multi-step equations in real world situations. Science (STEM) During our last quarter of the school year we will be turning from a traditional science unit to dig deeper into STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math). So far our students have completed the Marshmallow Challenge (see post from last week) and the Index Card Challenge (see video to the right) to learn more about STEM, cooperation, collaboration, and teamwork. Although at times the processes have been frustrating, the students have persisted and prevailed! Next week the students will begin a new challenge...stay tuned! Important Upcoming Dates
